Patchwood Samplers: Personal Collections WorkshopCommunity
10 February 10:00 - 13:00
Join textile artist Ali Ferguson for a gorgeous day of hand stitching with a difference creating an ‘embroidered sampler’ from ‘patches’ of re-purposed wood. You will create six individual wooden patches embellished with your own small treasures, all hand stitched into place. They will then be stitched together to create your unique wall piece. The wood for your patches will be provided and Ali will bring along a lovely selection of vintage haberdashery & sewing box treasures from her studio, The Purple Thread Shed.
However to make your sampler really personal you’ll want to bring along your own small treasures & collections. You could make a sampler based on your favourite book or story, or based around your family or memories of childhood. You could bring along the contents of your granny's sewing box or small bits from Grandpa's tool shed, or bits and pieces gathered from nature during family walks. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels.
